Committee Member Bios


Born and raised in Veneta, Oregon, he served 14 years in the United States Marine Corps and 20 years for the Lane County Sheriff's Office. He moved to Camp Verde in 2001 after retiring from the Sheriif's Office.

 He is currently the Commandant of the Verde Valley Marine Corps League, and has held that position for 2 years. 

He is serving on the VVMSP Committee because he is passionate about serving his community nd our veterans.

Kyla Allen is a council member for the City of Cottonwood, currently appointed as Vice Mayor.  Kyla has served on the council for 3 years since retiring from the City in 2015, after 25 years of service, and was recently elected, as the top scoring council candidate, for a further 4-years.

She is an avid advocate for veterans rights, which she owes to her husband, who served the Army for nearly 8 years during the Vietnam war, is proud of every individual who serves our nation in this capacity, and does what she can to bring recognition to their needs.

Kyla Allen

Eric Young

In addition to serving our veterans on the VVMSP Committee, Eric has been a member of Rotary International since 1991 and is most recently serving as President of the Rotary Club of the Verde Valley. He is also the Financial Officer on the Congregational Council of Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Clarkdale.

Eric is a resident of the Verde Valley since 2016 and is a retired consulting engineer from the design and construction industry, who specialized in energy services, sustainable design, retro-commissioning, performance contracting, and design-build. 

Eric holds a BS degree in Engineering Design and Economic Evaluation (BSEDEE) from the University of Colorado, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado.
