IN MEMORY - Dave moved to Sedona in 1961 from Minnesota. During the mid 60’s he negotiated a Federal Land Trade between the Federal Government and the State of Arizona for 120 acres that is now known as Posse Grounds. He established and developed the Parks and Recreation Commission in Yavapai County. The Commission along with Dave developed the Posse Grounds Park with the help of the Marine Corps Reserves from Phoenix. With their effort all the infrastructure and roads were put in. Bill Garland and Dave put in the ball fields. They then built the swimming pool which is still in use today. It was a lot of hard work raising money and going after grants in those days – but everyone knew what a benefit Posse Grounds would be and still is to the Community! Over the years Dave has been involved in numerous community projects such as raising money and developing the Teen Center, the Skateboard Park and Jack Jameson Memorial Park. He is one of the founders and first members of both the Sedona 30 and the Mid-Day Rotary Club. He is a retired, licensed contractor and has built over 900 homes, and developed numerous subdivisions in this area during my construction career. Dave has lived and worked in and for this community for 51 years. He raised his family in Sedona and he is proud to call it home! Dave passed away March 16, 2021.
