Although I am not a veteran, my 96 year old father fought in WWII and still talks about his war buddies and the friendships formed and a lifetime of memories and experiences never extinguished. After attending numerous events at the Jack Jamison Military Park in Sedona, I always left wondering why there wasn’t any canine representation. Our military dogs have played an important role during war and at home. It seems in the past few months, their service to veterans is finally being recognized. My role on the committee is to spearhead the creation of a military dog sculpture at the Verde Valley Military Service Park, through interviews with local sculptors, planning, committee discussion, and fund raising. I am honored to sit among so many giving veterans on this committee.
